First rain-
a puddle sits down in
my summer chair

Potholes & Powder Days Shine On book

Trying to kill a fly
I accidentally
clap my hands

Feeling for the right
key to open the front door-
a sky full of stars

Ice blooms on
the old sun flowers-
five bellow

Summer siesta-
The hose leaking
into the mint

Of all people -why her?
bright stars
on dark water

On Rock Lake
a few stars
skinny dipping

The mating call
of the sand hill crane-
gold sun- wet grass

Up to my chin
in the hot springs-
light rain

I can tread water
and kiss and
so can she

Now Milky Way
you may lay down
on this old body

Finishing her burrito
then reapplying
red lipstick

Older couple
in the parking lot
she tucks his shirt in

Snow geese
scattering
the laugh of the bar fly

All that blue and no life-
robin’s egg
in the grass

Mixing concrete
a butterfly, the neighbors
take interest

Snow in the forest-
one of those birds is singing
opera

Big cute dirty
bear’s ass in the
high beams

August-
we eat our peaches
over the sink
