Elaine Jerome is an artist and published illustrator who has made her home in Nevada County for the past 22 years. Elaine has a great love of the outdoors and is inspired by the mountains and forests of the Sierra, where she works, hikes, backpacks, and snowboards. Originally from the East Coast, Elaine earned a B.S. in Animal Science and Wildlife Biology from the University of Vermont.
She came west after college for an internship at the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory in the Marin Headlands and then went on to earn a BFA in Illustration from The Academy of Art College in San Francisco. As a result of this history, animals and the natural world are major themes in her art.
The Return is about the journey of members of the reintroduced Yellowstone wolf pack making their way west to reclaim their original territories. The painting was recently featured as part of Wild & Scenic Film Festival art show at the Granucci Gallery in Grass Valley. The original and limited-edition prints are available for sale; contact Elaine through Instagram.
