Life in Layers

Bethany Lund graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a Liberal Arts degree. Being exposed to a variety of mediums in college allowed her to test the waters on a multitude of artistic styles. She continues to explore those varieties, keeping her excited by ongoing new discoveries. Bethany’s preferred medium is acrylic, but she includes vintage book pages, newspapers, recycled printed material, and other found objects to add depth and interest to her mixed media/collage style art pieces.

Having been a self-declared “non-representational artist” in the past, Bethany has begun to dip into more realistic subjects like birds and nature. She has found that these subjects have such life, character, and texture, and lend themselves well to her style of artwork.

Her work explores the interplay of color, texture, and the written word. Some pieces grow from photographs or lived experiences, others from song lyrics or complete figments of her imagination.
