Family Fun Night

Maintain the community spirit of sharing and giving year round. The Family Resource Center of Truckee invites all families of the Truckee Tahoe Community to join them on the 2nd Friday of each month for Family Fun Night. This is a great opportunity for those feeling the economic pinch to spend quality time with family and friends. A delicious meal, fun, and games (including dodge ball) are provided. Free. Dollar Art Exploration
Kids ages 6 to 12 can explore two feature exhibitions at the Nevada Museum of Art (NMA) for $1 admission. ‘Long May She Wave: A Graphic History of the American Flag’ exhibits nearly 3,000 flag-related items including Centennial-era quilts, Civil War-era flags, original flag art, Native American art, and vintage toys. ‘Between Grass and Sky: Rhythms of a Cowboy Poem’ features an original audio-visual presentation of legendary Cowboy poet Buck Ramsey’s poem ‘Grass,’ featuring contemporary artworks depicting the rhythms of life on the range – including an installation of 20 suspended bison skulls.
Free ways to engage kids with the exhibitions:
• Guided tours on Thursdays at 6 p.m., Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and Sundays at 1 p.m. Spanish tour the last Saturday of each month at 2 p.m.
•Hands/ON! Family Program, from noon to 3 p.m. on the last Sunday of every month features a hands-on art project and gallery activities designed for all ages.
• Bring pencils and a sketchbook or journal. Visitors are invited to reflect on or sketch the art in the galleries, using pencils only.
• Leave a comment. Many of the exhibitions provide comment books for visitors to write their thoughts about the art.
• Visit the sculptures on the rooftop and get a different perspective on the sky inside artist Chris Drury’s ‘Cloud Chamber.’ Find artist Ilan Averbuch’s ‘Shadow of the Sun.’

Om – Exploring Universal Consciousness
TTCTV presents ‘Om,’ a talk show promoting a greater understanding of diverse religious and spiritual beliefs by exploring both the heart of their teaching and the rituals and customs associated with each creed. Host Kira Yannetta hopes to help people see the similarities in belief systems and to grow beyond a mere tolerance for other convictions to an abiding respect for each other and our individual ways to our Divine Spirit. ‘Om’ airs weekly on Channel 6.

Anouaze Beat Dance

Sustainability Symposium

The Yoga Space Tahoe is under new management whose primary goal is to make the studio both financially and spiritually accessible to the North Lake Tahoe community. They are also partnering with local businesses to offer rewards programs to those who support the community. Help Your Sisters
The Northern Sierra Rural Health Network and Stanford University School of Medicine joined forces for a study designed to help women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. They are looking for Northern Sierra women who are currently undergoing a breast cancer journey or have undergone treatment for breast cancer to participate in this free study. Participants attend local support groups led by an experienced and licensed facilitator. Set in a nurturing, safe, and confidential environment, participants will share experiences. Offers opportunities for personal growth while helping thousands of future cancer patients. Approximately one-and-a-half hours per session. Workbooks and other materials provided.
