The summer season and music festivals have become synonymous over the last decade. As outdoor music gatherings become more popular, themed events, and genre-specified weekends, are becoming the norm. Whatever type of sounds you’re into, there is a summer festival for your taste.
One area festival, catering to the West Coast electronic dance, and hip-hop following, titled The Big Bounce, will be held in Belden, Calif. from June 19 thru June 21. Belden and its residents are welcoming, and accommodating, more than 60 performers on multiple stages throughout the weekend. Belden and its local businesses will be open for business to all those attending. The small, laid-back town provides a friendly, outdoor musical haven. The event is the brainchild of promoters and coordinators, Champagne and Bacon, who’ve collaborated with businesses and residents in Belden to bring this to fruition.
‘I’ve been saying it’s a festival six years in the making, since it’s a culmination of so many of the relationships we’ve been building for the last six years,’ Steve stated. ‘Technically though, we started working on it last October. The beautiful town of Belden was one inspiration; the vibe, the location, the amenities. We thought it’s an ideal location for our friends and musicians to all get together, since so many of us are lovers of nature, music, and wellness.’
The Big Bounce is adapting ideas, and practices that are becoming popular at shows and festivals. Yoga sessions, swimming, hiking, mediation and other wellness workshops. The Big Bounce is also going ‘Green.’
‘Being green is attempting reduce the footprint we make on the earth,’ Steve said. ‘Our stages are run on bio-diesel, and we are trying to use as little paper as possible in promoting the event, by using the Internet as the primary advertising medium.’ The musicians themselves are becoming highly aware of how the human race affects the evolution of the planet. Champagne and Bacon, an environmentally conscious company, has put together a group of like-minded musicians and artists.
‘We share similar ideals when it comes to quality production, community, and consciousness,’ Steve explained.
As the general populous becomes more aware of our impact, our ‘carbon footprint,’ we look to promote that in every facet of our lives. Why not incorporate that into the way we listen to, or enjoy, live music.
Attracting the likes of BassNectar, David Starfire, The Black Rock City All-Stars, and Who Cares, just to name a few, the day-to-day line up of the festival will surely impress. The festival runs from June 19 thru June 21, full weekend tickets are $110/ Adv. Tickets at the gates are $140. Information, tickets, and the line-up at bigbounceatbelden.com.
