Eastern Placer Future Moves Forward

    NORTH LAKE TAHOE

The Placer County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) has officially certified Eastern Placer Future’s incorporation petition as sufficient.

This means Eastern Placer Future has successfully met a major legal requirement on the path toward giving its community the choice to vote on whether to create the Town of North Tahoe.

Eastern Placer Future submitted 3,253 petition signatures from residents across the region. The Placer County Registrar of Voters reviewed a random sample of those signatures and determined a validity rate of 74.6%. When that rate is applied to the full submission, it confirms that the petition exceeded the required 25% threshold of the registered voters within the proposed town boundaries. Based on this verification, LAFCO has certified the petition as legally sufficient under state law.

Now that the petition has been certified, Eastern Placer Future can move forward with submitting the full application for incorporation. That includes environmental review, a comprehensive fiscal analysis, public hearings, and continued community involvement. If all goes well, the community could have the opportunity to vote on this in November 2026.
