Molly Allen is an award-winning, emerging artist based in Incline Village. She is interested in the act of self-contemplation and one’s perception of reality. Using animal as metaphor, her work explores the depths of the human subconscious. She creates ceramic sculpture and installation work around these themes. “I am fascinated by water and liquid,” reads her artist statement. “I wonder what it feels like to be weightless, suspended, what we think about when we are underwater, and the way it connects us to deep realms of the subconscious.”
Allen obtained her bachelor of fine arts degree from Sierra Nevada College in December with a double emphasis in ceramics and new genres. She spent a month studying ceramics in Taiwan, and plans to travel to Japan in May to learn about Japanese art.
