My art education began many years ago in Laguna Beach, California, which is known as an art colony. With such a heavy emphasis placed on art within the educational system in Laguna and the influence of many fine local artists, I was afforded a great opportunity to explore and pursue artistic goals. Moving to the Tahoe/Truckee area in 1965 only further nurtured my leanings toward art and painting, as the beauty of our area is breathtaking in every season.
I have chosen the medium of transparent watercolors as I feel they translate onto the paper the vast spectrum of nature that encircles us. Watercolors, with their free-flowing spontaneity, best depict the untamed, free-spirited character of nature’s world. ~ Teri A. Smith
