Field Day is a hand-painted mandala featuring an array of mushrooms arranged in kaleidoscopic harmony. This piece celebrates the magic of mycology, and the dreamy idea that mushrooms gather to commune in fairy rings in the field when nobody is looking. From the center, Field Day includes: enoki, fairy inkcaps, scarlet fairy helmets, honey mushrooms, indigo milk caps, pink oysters, morels, and amanita muscaria.
Nicole Stirling, an artist, preschool director, and small business owner, has a fervor for vibrant colors, intricate details, and geometric patterns. Raised in Kings Beach, her work draws inspiration from the surrounding lake, mountains, forest, and wildlife. Nicole views both the process and the finished artwork as a meditative and mindful exploration.
Expanding her artistic horizons, Nicole explores realms of movement, psychedelia, and dimension in her work. She loves a good collab with other artists and photographers and loves painting stage backdrops for music festivals.
Nicole and her husband, Dave, are also the proud proprietors of Chickadee Art Collective in Kings Beach, a retail shop and gallery showcasing work from more than seventy local artists from the Tahoe, Truckee, and Reno region.
