Astrid Mendieta

Astrid Mendieta is a Nicaraguan-Honduran artist, based in Lake Tahoe, California. She has been passionate about the arts since she was a little girl, but it wasn’t until June 2021 that she decided to become a professional artist while studying at the Milan Art Institute. For years, she struggled with knowing her purpose and worth, and in the lowest point of her life she committed to her spirituality. After years of internal searching, she hit a breakthrough in a shamanic ceremony, when she had a vision of herself sharing her art and teaching workshops all over the world.

Astrid’s style has evolved from painting detailed galaxies and mandalas to abstract realism of women, wild animals, nature and the cosmos. She loves to sketch and draw images and layer them with spray paint, markers, acrylics, inks, collage, and oil paints. Her loose brushstrokes accompanied with refined details demonstrate her confidence and commitment to her craft, as well as her personal evolution that went from being tight and close, to opening up and freeing her self-expression.

Her home studio overlooking the beautiful pine trees of the mountain and aqueous lands of Tahoe, inspires Astrid to paint daily. You can find her work on display at North Tahoe Arts’ Tahoe City location, as well as online at astridcarolina.art.
