Fishmas is approaching fast and the rivers are flowing once again, so when you trade out your ski bib for waders and your sticks for a rod, plan accordingly. The north section of Dog Valley Road by Stampede Reservoir will be closed until fall of 2018.
The Bureau of Reclamation plans to restart work at Stampede Dam resulting in the need to close the section of Dog Valley Road over the dam this April .The extent of the road closure will be from the Stampede Meadows Road and Dog Valley Road intersection to the Emigrant Group Campground entrance on Dog Valley Road. Public access to Stampede Reservoir will be along Hobart Mills and Dog Valley Road. Reclamation will install over 30 detour road signs this spring indicating the road closure and detour route. This road closure is expected to last through October 2018, when the project is planned to be complete.
Additionally, the Emigrant Group Campground will be closed for the 2017 season and re-opened for the 2018 season. Logger Campground and the Boat Ramp road at Stampede will be open during the entire project.
Construction access along Stampede Meadows Road from Boca to Stampede will be created towards the end of March and Sierra and Nevada County will formally open Stampede Meadows Road towards the end of April depending on the weather.
During the interim time period after construction access is created and up to when Stampede Meadows Road is formally opened by the counties, the road will be remain closed for safety reasons.
