The Tahoe community has always had a reputation of drawing thrill-seeking, boundary-pushing personalities. From a Norwegian mail carrier who braved the uncharted Sierra, an early female pioneer in snow safety, a skater who built a halfpipe in the Tahoe City dump, to a man who fashioned himself downhill skis from a pair of water skis, we look back at just a few of the many pioneers of extreme activities who call the Tahoe/Truckee area home.
