Tahoe City Lodge to Apply for Economic Incentive Program
TAHOE CITY
Kila Tahoe, the developers of the proposed Tahoe City Lodge, will apply for a Placer County-sponsored Economic Incentive Program that aims to help with the expense of Tourist Accommodation Units (TAU). TAUs are required by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency for lodging units within the Basin. If the project meets the criteria of the incentive program, the TAU costs would be acquired by Placer County, then repaid via the Transit Occupancy Taxes (TOTs) paid by lodge guests. The project is estimated to bring in $600,000 a year in TOTs. The Tahoe City Lodge plan includes 118 total units, and is slated to occupy the space of the current Henrickson Building in downtown Tahoe City. Info: tahoecitylodge.com

Nonprofit Project MANA Relocating from Parasol Building

As of June 30, Project MANA will be relocating after having been based in the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation in Incline Village for 14 years. Project MANA’s mission is to reduce the impact of hunger on individuals, families, the community, and the region. The move is due to the non-renewal of their resident and storage grants with the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation. Food distribution services are not changing, and the organization is looking to raise $150,000 over the next three months, with more fundraising needed after the summer. New Pathway to Home Ownership in Placer County

A new financing option is available to Placer County residents who are interested in purchasing a home, but are unable to use traditional mortgage loans. The Placer County Housing Authority is partnering with the California Affordable Housing Agency to expand access to homeownership through the Trio Lease-To-Buy Option Program. Trio is a home financing program that uses a lease with an option to purchase structure. Leasing agreements consist of fixed monthly payment plans ranging from one to five years, offering an option to purchase during or at the end of the lease, similar to car leasing agreements. Trio finances any newly-built home (houses built within the last five years) in Placer County at prices up to $527,700,
