MOONSHINE INK STAFF REPORT
Placer County is seeking applications to fill upcoming vacancies on the Squaw Valley Municipal Advisory Council and North Tahoe Regional Advisory Council (NTRAC).
The prospective NTRAC vacancy is for someone to represent the Northstar-Martis Valley area.
The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, Jan. 11.
Commonly known as MACs, the county’s 14 municipal advisory councils advise the Board of Supervisors on issues of public interest in unincorporated areas. The councils are charged with gathering public comment on a range of topics, including land use, public works, recreation, law enforcement, and public health and safety.
The terms of current members of the Squaw Valley MAC and NTRAC are scheduled to end on Jan. 31, 2013. Current members will be reappointed to new two-year terms in many cases, but both advisory bodies are expected to have at least one vacant seat that will not be filled by reappointing a current member.
Fifth District Supervisor Jennifer Montgomery will review the applications and recommend candidates for approval by the full board.
Members of both MACs must reside, own property, or own or manage businesses within MAC boundaries.
The seven-member Squaw Valley MAC normally meets at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month in the Community Room at the Squaw Valley Public Service District, 305 Squaw Valley Road.
NTRAC is a nine-member advisory body that generally meets at 6 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month. Meeting locations vary from month to month.
For application forms, call the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors Office at 530-889-4020 or go to the county website at http://www.placer.ca.gov/Applications.aspx#coco.
Completed applications should be delivered to the Clerk of the Board’s Office in person or by mail. The office is located at 175 Fulweiler Ave. in Auburn. The mailing address is 175 Fulweiler Ave., Auburn, CA 95603.
