PRESS RELEASE
The Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce (TDCC), Contractors Association of Truckee Tahoe Political Action Committee (CATT-PAC), and the Tahoe Sierra Board of Realtors (TSBOR) have teamed up with TTCTV-Channel 18 (Truckee Tahoe Community Television), the Sierra Sun and Moonshine Ink newspapers to provide two candidate forums aimed at enhancing voter education and participation in the upcoming election. The forums will be broadcast live from the Truckee Town Hall Council Chambers. Additionally, TTCTV-Channel 18 will stream the video on their home page at www.ttctv.org and air a series of reruns of the forums. The candidates will not only answer live audience questions but will also answer questions submitted in advance.
The first forum will feature the Tahoe Forest Hospital District Board of Directors candidates and the Truckee Fire Protection District Board of Directors candidates. This forum is set for Wednesday, October 1, from 6-8:00 p.m. There are three seats open in the Tahoe Forest Hospital District race for a four year term. Seven candidates are vying for the three seats. The Truckee Fire Protection District race has three seats open for the four-year term with four candidates running.
The second forum will focus on the Truckee Town Council and the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District Measure U Bond. This forum is set for Thursday, October 2, from 6-8:00 p.m. There are three seats open for the Truckee Town Council four-year term and five candidates running. Also covered that evening will be the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District Measure U bond measure for facilities. There will be speakers both pro and con making presentations.
Residents can email questions to the TDCC in advance of the forums. Send questions to CarlaEmbertson@yahoo.com. Please put “Candidate Forum Question” in the subject line. Questions will be submitted to the panel anonymously. The deadline for emailed questions is the day before each forum. Members of the Sierra Sun and Moonshine Ink staffs will present the questions to the panel of candidates and bond measure speakers.
TTCTV-Channel 18 will broadcast reruns of the forums. Rerun schedule to be announced at a later date.
These forums are provided as a public service by the sponsoring groups in conjunction with TTCTV-Channel 18 and the Sierra Sun and Moonshine Ink newspapers.
