Pho Truck Opens in Truckee

Elijah Brehl opened Pho Real, a food truck offering a modern take on Vietnamese and French street food, on July 18 in Truckee on Industrial Way. Brehl, who has been cooking for 11 years, felt that Truckee needed “a new, healthier option that won’t break the bank,” so he decided on pho since it is fast and healthy. Brehl picks what he can from Rodison Farms in Reno, including peppers, onion, garlic, and herbs, and sources the rest of his products from Tahoe Food Hub, Tahoe Mountain Valley Meats, and Natural Trading Company with the goal of getting everything as local as possible. He said a must-try is the king pho, which has braised pork shoulder in it. Check the Pho Real Facebook page for truck locations. Martis Camp Sells Homesite in Bitcoin

Martis Camp recently announced that it has closed on potentially the largest recorded real estate transaction involving bitcoin. Martis Camp is set up as a merchant with BitPay, a leader in business solutions for virtual currencies that allows buyers to easily convert their bitcoin into U.S. dollars. The parcel of land sold is valued at $1.6 million. The sale price would trump the $500,000 paid for a villa in Bali in February, believed at the time to be the largest single consumer purchase conducted in the virtual currency. Bitcoin, a peer-to-peer payment network and digital currency, was introduced in 2009 and has substantially lower payment processing fees than those of credit cards or money transfers. BitPay managed the Martis Camp transaction and enables payment into bank accounts in either bitcoin or U.S. dollars. The online virtual currency merchant also manages transactions for car brands like Tesla and Land Rover.
