New Pizzeria and Bar in Truckee
Truckee’s newest restaurant, Old Town Tap, located where Pizza Bar used to be, opens its doors on May 26. Old Town Tap is a Neapolitan-style pizzeria and bar offering a community dining experience with locally sourced ingredients. Owners Marlena John and Luke Bill, and Executive Chef Adam Hinojosa bring aspects of contemporary cuisine to the mountains, creating an experience that is comfortable, approachable, and delicious. Old Town Tap will serve pizzas, salads and shared plates, such as fried cheese curds, oysters, and house-made charcuterie. Complementing the scrumptious food will be a full bar, complete with signature cocktails, 16 beers, and 12 wines on tap. The Mill Juice Shop Opens in Reno
The Mill Juice Shop, located in the Pioneer Center in Truckee, held a grand opening party May 6 at its new digs in Reno. The Truckee shop has been open since 2014. SnowTech Helps Reduce Dog Waste
SnowTech has joined forces with the community-driven initiative Keeping It Clean (KIC) to reduce the amount of dog waste on the streets. KIC was created by Tahoe Donner residents Christina Nemec and Anne Fellows. KIC provides magnetic signs to interested homeowners to post on their bear boxes. These signs give dog walkers permission to dispose properly sealed dog waste bags into marked bear boxes. The goal is to give dog lovers a convenient way to dispose of their companion’s waste, so fewer dog waste bags and dog ‘deposits’ line the streets. KIC has cleared this project with both the Tahoe Donner Association and the Town of Truckee. SnowTech is distributing one Keeping It Clean magnet free of charge to Tahoe Donner residents. Those who wish to participate can stop by 17356 Northwoods Blvd. Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm to pick up a sign.
Truckee-Tahoe Lumber Donates to Trout Creek Park
Mountain Area Preservation (MAP) recently announced a $4,000 donation from Truckee-Tahoe Lumber in support of the Trout Creek Pocket Park, located at Bridge and Jibboom streets in downtown Truckee. “Truckee-Tahoe Lumber is passionate about contributing to, and doing, what’s best for the Town of Truckee, and this includes supporting the beautification of the downtown area,” said Andrew Cross, president of Truckee-Tahoe Lumber Company. This project will revitalize and restore an urban natural resource and neglected landscape by creating a green open space and park setting for visitors and locals to enjoy along the creek’s edge. MAP plans to break ground this spring and believes that the Trout Creek Pocket Park will be the catalyst for more green spaces throughout downtown Truckee.
