The River Ranch Listed for $5 million
The popular and iconic River Ranch, which sits directly on the Truckee River at the corner of Alpine Meadows Road and Highway 89, was recently listed for $5 million by Boice O’Neal Realty. The listing includes two parcels, 19 lodging units, an established restaurant business, a liquor license, and all fixtures and equipment. Built around 1925, there have been a number of improvements and upgrades to the well-known lodge over the years. New Market and Deli to Open in Kings Beach
Tahoe Central Market is set to open this month in Kings Beach, and will offer fresh, local, organic produce, as well as a dairy, gourmet deli, soup station, and juice bar. The market, which is located in the former Taneva Auto Parts store, will use locally sourced, family-owned suppliers. Customers can even order community supported agriculture (CSA) boxes there.

Snowboard Showroom Opens in Truckee
Thrive Snowboards, a two-year-old local snowboard company, opened a snowboard showroom and shop near the Truckee-Tahoe Airport in November. The company designs boards, outerwear, luggage, street wear, and accessories. It also emphasizes the importance of a strong community, proper instruction, and accessibility of the sport. The store will have Thrive boards available for demo or purchase, as well as community events, film screenings, and more. Truckee Donner Chamber Honors Businesses
At its annual awards dinner on Oct. 29, the Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce recognized local businesses or members “who have exemplified outstanding involvement in the community and its issues.” Businesses honored included California 89 as New Business of the Year; Tahoe Donner Association as Large Business of the Year; SmallPond Studio and Wild Cherries as Small Businesses of the Year; and the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe as Nonprofit Organization of the Year. The Weekly Gets New Owner
Katherine E. Hill, longtime editor of The Tahoe Weekly, is the new owner and publisher of the 32-year-old publication. The purchase from Palomar Tahoe Newspapers, Inc., was effective Nov. 14. Hill, whose media credentials span a 20-year career, remains as editor in chief of the magazine. She has been editor for seven years, and in recent years became an associate publisher. The Tahoe Weekly is the successor publication of North Tahoe Week, first published in 1982.
