North Tahoe Arts, the creative hub for the Tahoe region’s visual artists, is about to turn 30 and will celebrate with a two-day Birthday Art Festival and Fundraiser Sept. 26-27 at the Community Center Patio at 380 N. Tahoe Blvd.

Original art, prints, photography, ceramics, jewelry, fiber art, note cards, eclectic wall hangings and more will be available for sale at the Covid-compliant event.  Patrons who purchase any piece of art will receive a gift certificate for a free baked good from Whole Treats Bakery. There will also be a silent auction for art pieces created by local makers.

The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. The Patio setting is located just above Commons Beach.

North Tahoe Arts (NTArts) is a non-profit organization based in Tahoe City. Their mission is to support the visual arts in our region through exposure, education, and participation. Considered a cultural asset, NTArts serves to engage artists and community members of all ages, as well as visitors.

The 30th Anniversary Art Sale will help support a comprehensive range of visual art programs and events. These include:

    • The Artisan Shop, which features original, handmade work by local artists.
    • Youth Art Programs, which include Kids Art Camp (KAC) and the free Kids Art Saturdays (KAS) which offers hands-on art experience to elementary and middle school age youth..
    • ARTour, which organizes “behind the scenes” peek to see how art is created at studios located across the many neighborhoods that make up the North Lake Tahoe-Truckee region.
    • Workshops, taught by local, regional and national artists.
    • Plein Air, which takes place during the Tahoe City Downtown Association’s annual Summer Festival in June. Participating artists come from near and far to gather and paint the breathtaking scenery of North Lake Tahoe “en plein air,” in the open air.

NTArts began life 30 years ago as the Sierra Artists’ Network, a group of local artists who wanted to share their passion for arts and fill a cultural gap in an outdoor-oriented community by encouraging cultural tourism and economic vitality. In 2003 the group incorporated as a 501 (c)3 non-profit and moved into the historic Community Center building next to Commons Beach, in the heart of Tahoe City.
