Summer is in full swing here in Tahoe, and a common question I get as an outdoor gear salesperson is what pieces of summer gear are must-haves this year. All of the items below can be found at Alpenglow Sports in Tahoe City, where I work. For almost 40 years our shop has been hooking up the outdoors people of Lake Tahoe with the gear they need to get rad. I only joined the Alpenglow team this summer, and while I’ve worked at other outdoor gear shops, I have to say if you’re looking for the best gear and the most genuine advice, this is the shop for you. Here is our list of the top five essential pieces of summer gear for every adventure.
~ Emily is a gear-obsessed college student who has worked in the outdoor industry for the past three years during school breaks. When she isn’t bumming around in gear heaven, Emily studies Earth science at Vassar College, and uses her pending Earth science degree as an excuse to go backpacking for school credit and call her hikes “research.”
