Just when you thought all the wild ones had all but disappeared from around here, Gar Woods hosted the pre-Snowfest North Tahoe Chamber mixer, and the room was swarming with Wet Woody slurping ladies and gents. (At least they were earlier in the evening). Did we die and go to heaven? Gar Wood’s world famous, free Wet Woody’s all night? Lord what a blister!
After downing a slew to brace themselves from the cold, beloved local ladies Jan Colyer and Kym Fabel bravely attempted to practice for the upcoming Polar Bear Swim and were last seen careening off the pier in their birthday suits. Will they resurface in time to participate in this year’s plunge? Stay tuned for our next installment.

The eclectic crowd included inventor Tom M. and girlfriend Kelly T., who is an emergency room nurse. The medical expert selflessly shared her cure for back pain: Take a Vicasomamarijuanaprofin. I think you can translate. She claims it is ‘the nurse’s cure’ when back pain flares. My, we are in good hands.

Yoshimi Sushi – recently featured in the Ink – held a special reception….for themselves! Owners Bryan Pavone and Candis Buchanan were married in Incline Village and held the reception at their restaurant. Congrats guys. May your home be blessed with the pitter-patter of little sushi chefs, sans knives.

Just when I thought the laundromat in Truckee was going to be condemned, the quarter-munching, barely functioning disaster got a face-lift with new ceiling tiles and warm mocha paint. Thank you so very much. Now, if parents would only refrain from allowing their filthy footed children from running around the counters where you fold your clean clothes, the place could be tolerable. The Brain Wash in San Francisco is an excellent business model for another much needed laundromat by the way. Throw your wash in, order food and drink, and then enjoy a book or work on your laptop in a clean, sane environment. Just a thought budding entrepreneurs.

VD is here, and if you don’t have a Valentine, you can spend the evening in a tux or gown with your dog instead. The Humane Society of Truckee Tahoe is hosting their first annual Black Tie & Tails gala at the lovely Resort at Squaw Creek on February 14, and you get to bring your dog! My cats are coughing up hairballs, just sick with jealousy. The event is going to be outrageous, and The Mix predicts it will be a highly anticipated affair year after year. Warning: The Mix will be there, eavesdropping and slinking about in black attire covered in dog hair, so do take care not to look too ridiculous dancing to ‘Proud Mary.’
