The Youth Voices Radio
The Youth Voices Radio Project is a program of KVMR FM Community Radio for teens ages 14 to 18 who are interested in community and in radio. Participants will learn to develop and define ideas on issues related to the arts, environment, government and community and how to turn those ideas into stories told through radio. A safe graduation night
Project Graduation for Truckee High keeps graduates off the roads and giving them a better chance for a safe night. This year’s slow winter is impacting fundraising for the event; while they need $30,000, they currently have approximately $2,500. The group is hosting an upcoming fashion show that is historically successful. If you can help with money or goods donations for the fashion show, call 530-587-4868.
Golfing For Schools Cards
The Tahoe Truckee Excellence in Education Foundation ‘Golfing for Schools’ cards go on sale April 14. The transferable passes will sell for only $400 and each provide 18 holes of play at eight premiere North Tahoe and Truckee area golf courses. There is a purchasing limit of eight cards per person. Truckee River Video
Help the Truckee River Watershed Council document the Truckee River in a short video or still life photographs. The themes needed are: 1) The value of the resource, 2) problem areas and 3) what we can all do going forward. Biodiesel for Green Building in the Sierras

The Sierra Green Building Association’s (SiGBA) upcoming ‘Live Green Build Green’ Speaker Series, Tuesday, April 17 event will feature Ronny Colby from Truckee Biofuels. Learn more about biodiesel as it relates to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) specific to year-round green building in the Sierra. Annual PlumpJack/LINK Golf Classic

Cushing Classic

Held at Squaw Valley USA, The Cushing Classic is a Tahoe tradition that involves hilarious attempts to cross Lake Cushing using skis, snowboards or any other imaginative vessel with the objective to get enough speed coming down the ramp to make it across the lake without falling in. Trails and Outdoor Leadership Training

Learn how to design, build, and maintain trails while making friends, with instructors from agencies and nonprofit trails organizations in and around the Lake Tahoe area, including the Sierra Front Recreation Coalition, Tahoe Rim Trail Association, and others. US Freestyle Ski Team member Shelly Robertson presents her first annual Women’s Ski Clinic in Lake Tahoe at Squaw Valley during the last three weekends of April. Designed for women who are intermediate to advanced skiers, this clinic incorporates both a fun and non-intimidating environment where women can progress and push one another to the next level. Washoe Day
April 28
The Washoe lived in and around the Tahoe Basin for more than 10,000 years and KidZone is celebrating their rich traditions. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be Washoe stories, music, art and basketweaving demonstrations. Kids can make art projects and get their faces painted. Kids University
The University of Nevada, Reno presents another fun-filled summer at Kids University, a day camp open to children entering grades 2 through 8. Kids University features programs and activities to energize kids’ minds and bodies all summer long, including rock climbing, dance, art, writing, acting, math, language and more.
