Squaw Valley is hosting a seventh year of this special event featuring kite-flying demonstrations, kids’ kite-building seminars, and general kite mania, featuring great, live music on our summer stage all day. High Camp, at the top of the Cable Car, offers one of the most spectacular and unique kite flying locations in the world. Organized by The Northern California Kite Club and Reno Nevada Kite Club. Wilderness Survival

Adults who want to feel more confident in the wilderness will learn primitive fire making skills with a bow drill and knife safety. The instructor, Daniel Rodni, owns Wilderness Solutions and has 14 years of survival experience. Bring a sharp, non-folding 3-6′ full tang knife. 8 a.m. to noon. AVA Walk Event

American Volkssport Association (AVA) invites you to walk the Truckee River Legacy Trail – 10km (6.2) or 6km (3.7) mile walks. Mostly flat, wooded dirt paths, intermittent shade. Self guided. Golf and Supper Club at the Championship Course

Enjoy nine holes of golf and a 3-course dinner at the Grille. The Championship Course was named Best in State by Golf Digest magazine in 2007. Originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., this par-72, 18-hole course is described as the ideal mountain layout. North Shore Garden Tour

55+ Take-A-Hike

Community Totem Sculptures

Trails and Vistas is sponsoring free community clay workshops with ceramic artist, Alanna Hughes and metal artist Mary Guerra, at Riverside Studios. On July 27, participants will create Trails and Vistas community totem sculptures using clay and metal, which will be installed at this year’s ‘Songs of the Earth.’ On August 10 the workshop will focus on glazing (painting) the clay pieces. Kirtan (pronounced keer-tahn) originated in India, and is currently experiencing a worldwide renaissance as a participatory live music experience. Nia is ‘Fitness Fusion’ that integrates movement concepts and principals from dance, martial and healing arts.
