The Tradition of the Carousel

You are invited to The Tradition of the Carousel, an exhibit opening on the second floor of the Bernhard Museum Winery. Guest Curator Sue Hegarty will display samples from her collection of restored carousel animals. Sue has collected, restored, sold, and exhibited over 100 carousel animals, and worked as both curator and director of the American Carousel Museum in San Francisco. She will be present during the opening to greet visitors and answer questions. The Bernhard House, freshly decorated for Old Town Country Christmas, will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. opening night. Holiday Craft Bazaar

Santa Sled Day

Tahoe City Rotary Club invites you to a free and fun afternoon of sledding at Granlibakken Resort. Children and families are invited to sit with Santa, sled down Granlibakken’s hill, enjoy hot dogs and hot chocolate. Watch Santa arrive in a parade of firetrucks and law enforcement vehicles. Sweet Deal at Sugar Bowl

Tahoe Women’s Services (TWS) invites all skiers and snowboarders to ski Sugar Bowl Ski Resort for just $25. Sugar Bowl has generously donated 1,000 tickets with 100 percent of the ticket proceeds benefiting TWS. By purchasing an all-day ticket in advance you’ll be supporting the agency that provides support, in both Spanish and English, for domestic violence and sexual assault programs in the North Lake Tahoe/Truckee region of California and Nevada. The Lake Tahoe Adventure Slide Show Series, now in its Eighth season, begins its 10-week run with Tahoe local Dave Nettle and an evening of mountaineering and rock climbing adventures. His presentation starts in Russia with an ascent of Mount Elbrus at the height of the recent Georgian conflict, then continues on to Switzerland’s iconic Matterhorn and the spectacular granite face of the Dru near Chamonix. Despite the shrinking U.S. dollar, his ‘European Vacation’ is full-value and packed with a sense of humor, fun travel and memorable ascents. 7 p.m. Free. Waxen Moon Crumbs
Everyone benefits from Waxen Moon’s brilliant venture. They recycle the leftover wax crumbs from make-your-own candles, and use them to make ‘recycled’ candles. Those sell to customers for a donation of $5 and up – a fraction of retail price. The proceeds go to the Children’s Health Fund, which partners with major academic medical centers to provide health care to our nations’ underserved children. • Make Your Own Website Part I, Web Banners. In this class, students will learn how to use Photoshop or Photoshop elements to create web banners. Basic Photoshop skills such as extracting an image from a bank how to use layers, and publishing images for the web will be covered.
• February 18 − Make Your Own Website Part II, Beginning Web Design. This course will teach students the elements of web design, and is suitable for novices who would like to create their own basic websites. Site design, HTML tags and publishing to web server.
• March 12 − Make Your Own Website Part III, Search Engine Optimization. To round out the three part series, they’ll cover tips and techniques to make your website more visible on the Internet. Students will learn how to make their web sites ‘findable’ in search engines, and how to submit their sites for local search.

Body Recall − An Exercise Experience
