• Truckee Donner Recreation and Parks District (TDRPD) presents its annual egg hunt on Saturday for children 12 and younger. Separate egg hunt areas for different age groups. Enjoy your Spring Break. IVGID’s Youth Development Staff provides age-appropriate games for kids in grades K through 5. Crafts, activities, and field trips encourage social development with children from the community. Program activities vary by season. Kids for Conservation Festival

Kids, come celebrate Earth Day by attending a fun-filled afternoon of earth friendly, educational activities at the fourth annual ‘Kids for Conservation Festival.’ The afternoon promises to be packed with fun, hands-on activities linked to ecology, conservation and the Tahoe environment. The Parent Teacher Organizations of Glenshire and Truckee Elementary Schools invite you to come to an absolutely fabulous party on the deck of The River Ranch to benefit our local students. Poetry Celebration
April 17
Sierra Nevada College will continue its traditional celebration of National Poetry Month with a poetry reading by nationally acclaimed performance poet Patricia Smith, the author of five volumes of poetry, including ‘Blood Dazzler,’ which chronicles the devastation wreaked by Hurricane Katrina. Local poets will later have a chance to take home the title of Tahoe Slam Poet of the Year in the slam portion of the event. Competitors limited to the first ten to sign up, so arrive a minimum of 20 minutes before the event. Judges will be chosen at random from the audience, and audience members are encouraged to participate. Poets limited to three minutes (no preambles.) First-, second-, and third-place winners will receive cash prizes.

Creative Writing Seminar in Truckee

This seminar is for writers who want to create and develop a short story, piece of creative non-fiction, poems, or novel excerpt with the goal of making significant progress on the piece over four supportive workshop sessions.
