Young Eagles

The local Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter (1073) offers free airplane rides to kids interested in aviation. Weather permitting, volunteer pilots take the kids for a flight from Truckee Tahoe Airport to Lake Tahoe, by Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley, returning to Truckee. After their flight, kids receive a ‘Young Eagles’ Certificate and an information packet about opportunities in aviation. Fashionable Fun

This summer, Reno’s The Summit Mall hosts their very popular Fashion Camp. Parents are encouraged to enroll their daughters, ages 6 to 16, in a one-day camp where they’ll learn lessons in etiquette, fashion, and fun. From Accessories 101, to table manners and finding her personal style, Fashion Camp includes everything a girl needs to be confident, stylish and sophisticated. Isha Casagrande, owner of Lipstick Consulting, will provide her expertise in confidence building and style. Monday and Tuesday camp for 6 to 8 year-olds, Wednesday and Thursday camp for 9 to 12 year-olds, Friday camp for 13 to 16 year-olds. $60 per day includes lunch, a $25 gift card to The Summit, a special gift , and an official graduation certificate. Monsters in the Woods

Have you always wanted to take the little ones backpacking but don’t know how? Tim Hauserman, in partnership with the Tahoe Rim Trail Association, will teach a class-series on how to introduce backpacking to your children. Two classroom sessions – on June 16 and 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. will provide all of the information you need. Topics covered range from packing to teaching your kids about nature. An overnight backpacking trip on June 27 and 28 to Dardanelles Lake will test your new skills. Children over the age of 6 are welcome for the backpacking trip. Classroom sessions will be held at the TRTA office, at 948 Incline Way in Incline Village. North Tahoe ARTS is accepting reservations for kids’ art camps. Children ages 5 through12 create projects with real artists and have a blast working with clay, acrylics, tempera paint, and more and completing several fun projects. A Midsummer’s Camp
August 10 through 22
The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival presents A Midsummer’s Camp. Students aged 8 to 18 explore the history and language of Shakespeare, build a character, and develop their voice and acting techniques from several Shakespeare plays. Taught by both seasoned professionals and experienced arts educators trained to enrich your child’s summer experience. The camp offers two, one-week sessions for students 8-13, and a two-week session for students 14-18. One-week camps run August10 through 15 and August 17 through 22. Two-week camp is August 10 through 22. The camps run daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in Incline Village, with a culminating performance the last day of camp at the Lake Tahoe School. Partner Yoga
Angelina Calafiore and Tony Graeber offer Partner Yoga classes in Incline Village. The art of partnered yoga (also known as contact yoga or couples yoga) allows practitioners to ‘see’ themselves in another by trusting their partner to hold and support them in many of the poses. This unique approach allows partners to meet on equal ground, which is the best foundation for union. Trails and Vistas Volunteer Opportunities
Trails and Vistas seeks outgoing and personable volunteers to be trail leaders at this year’s event, ‘Terra Caeli.’ Host sponsor, Tahoe Donner Equestrian Center, offers a beautiful hike among majestic aspen groves, towering pines, and grassy meadows. Trail leaders become key outdoor and artistic interpreters leading groups of 30 hikers over a three-mile single-track trail, stopping at eight artistic venues. Volunteers should be in good physical shape with the ability to do several hikes both Saturday and Sunday, September 12 and 13. Trainings will take place throughout the summer.
