Waxen Moon owner Melody Conwell gets up close and personal with the queen of craft as she teaches her how to make a Waxen Moon original creation, the serenity bowl, a shallow wax bowl that’s illuminated by a floating candle. For the live Dec. 11 show, Conwell plans to embed cedar, star anise, pinecones and berries in the wax for a holiday theme.
Conwell says Stewart, in fact, inspired her to open Waxen Moon in 2003. ‘I first learned about candle-making in Martha Stewart
Living magazine,’ she says, ‘so I’ve always credited Martha with helping start my business.’ When she heard about the ‘What You Can Teach Martha’ segment, she pitched her idea.
See Conwell at 11 a.m. on The Martha Stewart Show, televised locally on NBC Channel 3, and follow her as she tweets her experience: twitter.com/waxenmoon. The day of the show, receive 25 percent off all serenity bowls at Waxen Moon. Village at Squaw Valley, Suite 53, 530-584-6006, waxenmoon.com.
