I will be voting for Lisa Wallace, Mary Hetherington and Tom Van Berkem for our Airport Board. They are the right people for the job and I urge you to join me in voting for them.
As an outgoing board member of the Truckee Tahoe Airport District, I am proud of the progress we have made in the last eight years. Our airport has achieved wonderful successes both for the airport and for the region as a whole. Open space acquisition, upgraded airport facilities and plans for an all-season emergency helipad at Lake Tahoe are just a few examples. The list is long.
Your property taxes provide over $4 million to our airport each year. We must keep a broad spectrum of talents and viewpoints on the airport board so the voice of all interests are heard, understood and become a part of decision-making. I believe it is essential to keep three qualified community representatives on this board. Their voices coupled with the two pilot representatives already on the board strike the perfect balance of aviator and community representation.
