As it turns out, the effort to stave off development in Martis Valley can be good for developers, or at least that’s what the folks behind Timilick were thinking when they hosted a promotional reception on August 11 and invited the Truckee Donner Land Trust to make a speech.
‘It was an opportunity for the Land Trust to get in front of a fairly affluent group of individuals,’ said Timilick spokesman Toby Baird, who explained that since many audience members had recently purchased property in Martis Valley, they would likely appreciate having nearby open space preserved.
With their purchase of the 1,462-acre Waddle Ranch nearing its final stages, the folks at Truckee Donner Land Trust were happy to address any crowd they could find. The Trust’s associate director Stan Wingate gave a brief presentation at the Timilick event. ‘Right now we’ll talk about this acquisition to anybody who will listen,’ said Perry Norris, executive director of the Land Trust.
The Land Trust has until October 31 to raise the final $600,000 it needs to purchase the $23.5 million Waddle Ranch property.
Located in Martis Valley, the 475-acre Timilick development will include residential units and an 18-hole golf course.
