The River by Nance Leikhim C1998. This is an abstract river symbolizing the changing moments and moods of our life – the endless and unlimited flow of water, the current, eddies, smooth and rough, the waterfall – joining with others, struggle, enlightenment, replenishing, and good fortune. I am using symbols from the ancient Chinese book, The I Ching, on this 98′ wide oil painting on canvas. The symbols in the clouds are called hexagrams in the book, and each is a key like a number to a specific chapter and paragraph which are the literal interpretation of this painting. nanceforart@sbcglobal.net
