As a wise friend said, ‘Bands don’t break up, they metastasize.’ The Tahoe Truckee Alliance for the Musical Arts, TAMA, is coming out of retirement for an encore performance of their ‘Last Waltz’ at Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City. Community Chest, Inc. of VC and the Global Voice Project are partnering with TAMA for this music revival celebrating Global Youth Service Day.

The concert will bring together over 20 local musicians to play songs from the 1960s through the 1990s at Piper’s Opera House, long considered one of our region’s most famous performance venues. TAMA has been playing to local audiences for over 15 years, performing to sold-out crowds and opening for the likes of Leon Russell and Nicolette Larsen at Sand Harbor.
All proceeds from the concert will benefit Global Voice youth and the TAMA Scholarship Fund. Come early for a light dinner and silent auction. Doors open 6 p.m. Tickets are available at L’Uva Bella, in the Summit Shopping Mall in Reno; online at pipersoperahouse.org; or Community Chest, Inc., 775-847-9311. April 26, at 7 p.m. Tickets $20/advance and $25/door.

Admission for youth who serve during Global Youth Service Day is $10. tamamusic.org.
