Arts For the Schools (AFtS), responsible for bringing high-caliber professional artists to local schools for more than two decades, just got a hunk of money from the Tahoe Mountain Resorts Foundation. The $10,000 donation went to the recently created ‘Terry Yagura Arts For the Schools Endowment Fund.’ The Fund was created in order to combine gifts of cash, appreciated stock, and other assets into secure investments in which the principal is held in perpetuity and the earnings are used to bolster the stability and continuity of AFtS community arts programs. In other words, the money will keep on giving.
The namesake of the Endowment Fund, Terry Yagura, was the founder and executive director of AFtS for more than 22 years. The non-profit organization, created in 1984, sponsors artists-in-residence and brings international performing artists directly to the North Tahoe/Truckee schools and community. Tahoe Mountain Resorts Foundation is a philanthropic organization established by East West Partners to ‘enhance the quality of life in the North Tahoe region through donations and support of worthy non-profit organizations and community programs.’
