Youth Soccer Training Program
The Sierra Mountain Soccer Club will host two summer training programs offering youth ages 4 to 18 the opportunity to work on their soccer skills with SMSC professional coaches over a four-week session. The training programs are open to children of all abilities and will be held at both the Riverview Park in Truckee and North Tahoe Regional Park in Tahoe Vista. Sessions run from June 22 to July 16 and from July 20 to Aug 13 with practices twice a week.

Tahoe Rim Trail Youth Backcountry Camps
The Tahoe Rim Trail Association in partnership with Sierra Nevada Journeys will be offering Youth Backcountry Camps. The camps will engage high school youth in a true wilderness experience and a service-learning project on the Tahoe Rim Trail. Each of the four, three-day, two-night sessions has the capacity for 12 students and will be fully supported by TRTA and SNJ staff. Participants are provided with all necessary camping gear and food for the program. Participants only need appropriate footwear and a passion for the outdoors! Camps will be held July 13 to 15, July 16 to 18, July 19 to 21 and July 22 to 24. The fourth session, July 22 to 24 is a Latino Youth Backcountry Camp. The first three sessions cost $99 while the fourth session costs $25. Scholarships are available. Evening Soccer Camp in Incline

The Incline High School varsity soccer teams are hosting an evening soccer camp for children in 1st through 8th grade July 20 to 23. This four-day skills and development camp will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the Incline High School upper fields (by the tennis courts). Cost is $70 and includes a soccer ball. All proceeds benefit the Incline High School boys and girls varsity soccer teams. Northstar Bike Park Races and Clinics
The Northstar-At-Tahoe Mountain Bike Park has a hot lineup of clinics and races scheduled for the upcoming months.
Giant for Women is hosting two ‘Ride and Retreat’ weekends for female mountain bikers featuring skills sessions, great riding, friendship and relaxation. Taught by pro cycling stars such as Tara Llanes, the retreats are open to beginner and intermediate riders. The first clinic runs July 10 to 12. Big Wheels, Little Balls Fundraiser

The Active Force Foundation’s Big Wheels Little Balls fundraiser will bring friends from the NFL, NBA and the action sports world together for a weekend of fun to raise awareness of adaptive sports and AFF’s mission to assist disabled athletes to maintain an active lifestyle. The weekend of golf, mountain bike camps and competitions will begin, Friday, June 26, with a Golf Tournament and silent auction at Old Greenwood in Truckee, followed by dinner at Baxter’s Bistro & Lounge in The Village at Northstar. Get Credit to Shred Argentina
Sierra Nevada College and South American Snow Sessions have teamed up to offer a ski/study travel course in Bariloche, Argentina, this summer. Set on a campus near Cerro Cathedral Snow Resort the SNC academic program will consist of nine 1- and 3-credit courses in Fine Arts, Ski Business Management, and Outdoor Leadership, all taught by SNC faculty over three, two-week sessions. Students who enroll in SNC courses will automatically co-enroll in the full-service SASS camp experience providing them with room and board, transportation, winter sports coaching, and cultural activities in the Bariloche area. Students from any college or university – as well as high school students age 15 or older – are eligible for registration. Courses begin July 17. North Tahoe Disc Golf Community Update
Disc golf season is well underway in the Tahoe Basin with both tournaments and the construction of a new course slated for the summer. The seventh annual King of the Lake Pro/Am Disc Golf Tournament tees off June 20 and 21 with participants throwing a round in all four Basin courses – Zephyr Cove, Bijou, Tahoe Vista, and Truckee – in a battle for the prize money. tahoediscndye.com.

New Field Hockey Program in Truckee

The Truckee-Donner Recreation and Park District debuts a new Field Hockey program this summer with open play at Riverview Sports Park from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sundays. Youth Golf Camps
Local youth can play golf with the pros this summer through the Lake Tahoe Truckee Youth Golf Foundation. The foundation has launched a summer golf program based on the U.S. Kids Golf curriculum. The weeklong program, for ages 6 through 17, will be offered at Old Brockway Golf Course in Kings Beach and Timilick Tahoe in the Martis Valley. All classes are under the instruction of PGA professional instructors, and the cost is $100 per student, per week. Ride High On The Fly

Haven’t heard about pickleball yet? It’s a hybrid sport based on tennis, badminton, and ping-pong that’s played with a low-net, a wiffle ball, and a ping-pong like paddle.
