Fish Frenzy

Tahoe Cooking Queens Cynthia McClelland and Mary Jurkonis present ‘Fish Frenzy,’ a cooking class helping to demystify cooking fish at the Cedar House Sport Hotel, from 6 to 8 p.m. The Queens are asking for donations, $45 per person or $75 for two, to benefit Project MANA and Los Medicos Voladores. It’s time once again to dig out your Dining for Schools card and put it to good use. Tahoe Truckee Excellence in Education Foundation’s Dining for Schools cards give diners a discount at select local restaurants. Cards are valid at all participating restaurants, Sunday-Thursday through June 10. Dining for Schools cards are valid for 50% off entrees at participating Truckee and North Shore restaurants. Cards cost $45 each and entitle the purchaser to unlimited use during the specified program dates. The cards are available at Porters Sports locations (Tahoe City, Truckee and Incline Village), Save Mart (Truckee and Tahoe City), Safeway (Truckee and Kings Beach), Mountain Hardware, and online at exined.org
Fifth Annual Truckee Brew Fest

The Truckee Optimist Club’s Fifth Annual Truckee Brew Fest will be held at the Truckee Regional Park from 1 to 5 p.m. Over 20 breweries will be represented pouring some of the finest brews in Northern California and Nevada. This year’s feature band will be Sol’Jibe. Advanced tickets are $25, $30 at the gate. Tickets available at the Gateway Deli, Truckee Book & Bean, Auto and Tire Doctor, and Dickson Realty. Fifth Annual Tahoe City Wine Walk

Discover the wines of the Sierra and the secrets of downtown Tahoe City at the Fifth Annual Tahoe City Wine Walk, from noon to 4 p.m. Wine Walk ticket-holders will stroll along Tahoe City’s sidewalks to 30 tasting locations while visiting retail shops and businesses. Wines will be paired with food provided by our local restaurants and caterers. Enjoy live music, and childcare options can be arranged. Participants receive a commemorative wine glass and gift bag, and are automatically entered into a raffle – grand prize is a complete 2-nights-for-2 North Tahoe vacation stay. Lake Tahoe Restaurant Week Launches Website
The inaugural Lake Tahoe Restaurant Week is slated for Sunday, September 5 (Labor Day weekend) through Sunday, September 12, when area restaurants will prepare delectable three-course prix fixe menus (both lunch and dinner), utilizing the best in organic, seasonal, and local ingredients, for $20, $30 or $40 per person. Local Publishes Kid-Friendly Camp Cook book
For 15 years, local Wil Durham had been instructing kids during his Matsu Yama Martial Arts Academy summer camps. One thing he learned was sometimes kids were more excited about making their own breakfast than they were about learning karate from masters.
