This summer local beer and art fans can get a double dose of goodness during the 14th annual Artown event with the ‘Artown Pilsner.’ This classic German-style pilsner has a light honey color with a subtle hint of malt sweetness and bursting with hop bitterness, flavor and aroma. Moody’s Bistro Invites You to Dinner in a Barn
Beginning in June, Moody’s will host the second annual ‘Dinners in the Barn’ series at Sierra Valley Farms near Sierraville, California. Mark Estee, Executive Chef and Co-Owner of Moody’s Bistro & Lounge, and Chef de Cuisine Guy Frenette will prepare a gourmet feast using produce directly from the farm and serve a four-course meal in an historic 1936 barn. Last year’s inaugural event was so popular that Estee and Gary Romano, whose family has owned Sierra Valley Farms for 100 years, have expanded the dinners to five evenings throughout the summer: June 20, July 11 and 12, and August 22 and 23. Diners will be offered an optional farm tour prior to the dinner. The farm tour begins at 4 p.m. and dinner is served at 5 p.m. Each event is $100 per person, which includes tax and tip. Truckee Chili Cookoff
June 28
The Truckee Sunrise Rotary Club’s Truckee Chili Cook-off debuts at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 28, at the Truckee Regional Park. The area’s best chili cooks will compete for top honors in these categories: Restaurants, Nonprofits and Individuals, and Best Overall. In addition, there will be a People’s Choice award and an award for best cooking team theme. All proceeds benefit Truckee-North Tahoe programs addressing the needs of youth, economically disadvantaged, and elderly. Admission with unlimited chili tasting will be $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Tickets are available from any Rotarian, at the event, and online at TruckeeChiliCookoff.org. Tahoe Biltmore Hosts Tail & Ale

The second annual Tail & Ale will be held Saturday, June 20, from 6 to 10 p.m., at the Tahoe Biltmore. Tickets are $30 and entry includes all-you-can drink microbrews, live music and a fish fry. Local group Serina Dawn will perform and guests are invited to enjoy beer from Firestone Brewery, Mendocino Brewery, Buck Bean Brewery, Jack Russell Brewery, Sierra Nevada, Lake Tahoe Brewery and Sacramento Brewery.
