Dragonfly Supports Nonprofits
According to owner and chef Billy McCullough, certain nights through October and November a different worthy organization will garner 10 percent of the evening’s net proceeds from Truckee restaurant Dragonfly. On October 21 the dinner will benefit Sierra Senior Services, October 24 features guitarist Ian Ethan Case and additional music acts as a fundraiser to benefit Far West race team, November 4 will benefit Girls on the Run, November 11 benefits the Truckee Humane Society and November 18 will benefit Planned Parenthood. Moody’s Bistro & Lounge To Host Pig Dinners
Moody’s Bistro & Lounge is presenting the second annual ‘Pig Dinners’ from Thursday, November 5 to Sunday, November 8. Dinners will feature pork-themed appetizers and entrees, and a cooking demonstration on Saturday, November 7, will include free tastes and pork-friendly wine. During the four-day celebration, Executive chef and co-owner Mark Estee and chef de cuisine Guy Frenette will design the restaurant’s dinner menu to feature all things pork. The free cooking demonstration on Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. will feature Estee and Frenette showing culinary aficionados the key to cooking tender pork as well as demonstrating other culinary techniques and recipes. Reno International Canned Beer Festival

Buckbean Brewing Company brings to Reno the first ever CANFEST – Reno International Canned Beer Festival, the first international beer judging and tasting for canned beer. The competition will be held in the Grand Sierra Theater on October 23, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Judging will take place prior to the public tasting. Celebrities from the beer world will judge the brews individually, based on categories still to be decided. Beer seminars, beer and food pairings, and a forum with brewers that can beer are planned. Buckbean Brewing Company, Big Sky Brewing Company, Oskar Blues, Ukiah Brewing Company, Maui Brewing Company, Surly Brewing Company, New Belgium Brewing Company, Uncommon Brewers, and Rochester Mills Brewing Company are a few confirmed attendees. Fig & Pig Dinner at Jake’s

Corks and Cleavage

In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Gesture and L’uva Bella Wine Gallery will present Corks and Cleavage to help raise awareness about breast cancer and donations for the Renown Breast Health Center. The first-time event will include free wine tastings from Cleavage Creek Cellars as well as live music featuring artists from the local band Clear Blue 22. Guests will be transported back and forth from Gesture to L’uva Bella in a limo sponsored by Reno Limousine, with surprise visits from northern Nevada celebrities. Beginning at 2 p.m. a raffle will be held at the top of each hour at both stores. Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20, and all proceeds will benefit the Reno Breast Center.
