Local artist Sara L. Smith calls herself ‘a mother, a partner, a wanna-be creative writer, an active community member, a political junkie, an avid reader, an outdoor enthusiast, and an interested observer of history, socio-cultural dynamics, and the individual’s experience in the world.’
‘These and other things inform my life and my work, which continues to evolve as the world around me evolves,’ Smith said.
Smith, a professional easel painter, muralist, and illustrator, works primarily with acrylic paint on a variety of surfaces. While Smith says she enjoys commission work, she has also created a series of personal paintings. Her personal work encompasses a range of imagery, but touches on consistent themes including the relationship of the individual to society, the shifting nature of perception and illusion, and the limits of individual observation and experience.
Smith is hosting a show displaying her work at Blue Pixie Studio in Incline Village from March 1 to 31.
