Seasons of Martis Reprise
October 1 to 5
On October 1, noted local and regional artists will gather to paint at outdoor locations throughout Martis Valley during the Seasons of Martis plein air event.
Three and a half painting days will be followed by a free presentation on the history of plein air painting in California at 10:30 a.m. on Sat. morning, in the Board Room at the Village at Northstar. Judging of paintings will happen after the lecture. There are just100 tickets on sale for the Saturday evening program: artists’ reception, silent auction, and preview sale in the Village at Northstar from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The weekend will wrap up with a free public exhibition and sale of all artists’ works on Sun., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Seasons of Martis plein air event was established in 2007 to promote the arts in the Lake Tahoe basin, and benefit the Truckee Donner Land Trust and North Tahoe Arts. The event is made possible by a grant from East West Partners. Tickets for Saturday evening are $65 and may be purchased at norstarattahoe.com.
ART Business Class

The two-evening course, ‘Make ART Your Business’ is offered though Truckee Meadows Community College. Topics include pricing your work, entering shows, approaching galleries, developing a portfolio, writing a resume, and creating a website. Learn about money and opportunities being offered FREE to artists through State and National Arts & Cultural Foundations and Agencies. Sara Zimmerman at Ethos Gallery
Truckee contemporary artist, Sara Zimmerman, is the guest artist at Ethos Gallery at the Village at Northstar. Zimmerman’s contemporary landscape titled ‘Calling Grandma,’ right, will be on display through mid-November along with the distinguished works of acclaimed national and international artists, such as Catheryn Austin and Chris Henry.
