Plein Air Event Donates $900 To Community Fund
The North Tahoe Plein Air, an annual event produced by North Tahoe Arts which takes place at the annual Autumn Food and Wine Festival, donated $900 – 10 percent of its total sales during the festival – to the Community Fund of North Lake Tahoe. The CFNLT is the primary funding recipient of the Lake Tahoe Autumn Food and Wine Festival through the 501c(3) Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation.

Empire Mine Hosts Holiday

Empire Mine in Grass Valley is the site of the oldest, largest, and richest gold mine in California. Family Fun Days
Gather the family and head to the West Shore for adventure at the Tahoe Maritime Museum. Students Collaborate to Create Fall Art Project
Fall leaves provided artistic media for students in Beverlee Robert’s fourth grade class at Glenshire Elementary School in Truckee. Working together, the 25 students sorted and arranged fall leaves to create a whimsical 12-foot -wide image glowing with the full spectrum of autumn color.
‘It kind of looks like a sun and it kind of looks like a spider,’ said participant Avery Fournier of the creation. The project, led by volunteer art docent Eve Werner, was inspired by the work of the British artist Andy Goldsworthy, who is known for his use of natural materials in creating ‘ephemeral’ artwork that is intended to last for only a short time. Like Goldsworthy, the students used no glue to hold their project together.
‘It’s going to blow away as soon as the wind comes up,’ predicted fourth-grader Nate Joseph, scanning the sky.
