Sacramento musician Jackie Greene is driving up the hill to celebrate the New Year in Tahoe with two shows scheduled at the Crystal Bay Club. The first show, set for Thursday, Dec. 30, will be an acoustic set and is part of a string of similar concerts Greene has recently performed throughout Northern California. An intimate and quiet evening, Greene will be performing this set in front of a seated audience. This night won’t get too rowdy, so save the party for New Year’s Eve when Greene and his full band will ring in the New Year in the Crown Room with a champagne toast and party favors.
Greene, who celebrated his 30th birthday last month at the Fillmore in San Francisco, just released his sixth solo album, ‘Till the Light Comes.’ A follow-up to his acclaimed 2008 release ‘Giving Up the Ghost,’ this 10-track album is a true representation of Green’s sound. Blues, jam, rock, country, folk — it’s safe to say Greene fits the broad genre of Americana, though his sound is still undeniably creative and unique. Greene’s musicianship shines through on ‘Till the Light Comes’ as he plays a wide array of instruments including guitars, organ, percussion, piano, Wurlitzer, mellotron, glockenspiel, and electric sitar. Greene is accompanied on the album by Tim Bluhm (vocals/guitar), David Simon-Baker (vocals), Dave Brogan (drums/percussion), Patty Espeseth (cello), Kenny Blacklock (violin), Chris Velan (vocals), Jeremy Plog (bass), and Bruce Spencer (drums).
