Plumas Bank celebrated 30 years of service to small businesses and individuals across Northern California on Dec. 15, 2010.
The local bank also had something else to celebrate in 2010 after what has been a tough several years for banks nationwide: In the third quarter of 2010, Plumas Bank reported a return to profitability.
The idea for a local bank serving local needs was formed in 1978 by a group of Plumas County citizens. Two years later, the first branch was opened in Quincy. Plumas Bank moved to Truckee in 2001, the same year it topped $250 million in assets and began to offer online banking.
In 2005, Plumas Bancorp, the parent company of Plumas Bank, became publicly traded on the NASDAQ exchange.
With over 190 employees, Plumas Bank is one of the largest employers in Northeastern California. The bank contributes over $10 million to the regional economy each year through wages, charitable giving, and local purchasing, according to the bank’s website.
Over the summer, Plumas Bank was named the Community/Rural Lender of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Association.
‘We are a bank that will not only advise you financially but take care of your needs like a family,’ said Elizabeth Kuipers, vice president and marketing manager for Plumas Bank. ‘This bank really did touch a lot of small town communities and that makes us feel good.’
