Sierra Valley sculptor Pat Blide will be showcasing his work in Tahoe’s popular summer ARTour, a self-guided event in which artists open their studios to the public during two weekends in July.

A rancher’s rusty pile of twisted metal and old machine parts are a treasure trove to this artist. Blide transforms the static into dynamic with whimsical characters coming to life via hammer, anvil, and flame.

“The search for materials is one of the most enjoyable aspects of my art,” said Blide.

ARTour is a unique opportunity to meet artists representing a wide variety of mediums including watercolors, pastels, oils, acrylics, glass art, woodworking, custom jewelry, photography, printmaking, metal working, ceramics, and mixed media. No matter your style or passion for art, there will be something for everyone. From Truckee to Incline Village, Kings Beach to Tahoe City and the West Shore, these open studios showcase the variety of materials and styles being practiced by the region’s artists.

The events kick off with a Meet the Artist gallery opening reception at the North Tahoe Arts Center in Tahoe City on Tuesday, July 9. This joint mixer with the Truckee-Donner Chamber, Tahoe City Downtown Merchant’s Association, the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association, and the North Lake Tahoe Business Association combines art, food, and wine, plus live music by local singer-songwriter Tuck Wilson.

Works from all 40 participating artists will be shown at the North Tahoe Arts Center galleries from July 2 through July 29. Studios will be open July 12 through 14 and July 19 through 21. Download the map at or pick up a copy of the ARTour Guide booklet at the following locations:
