Local Business Associations Adopt a Buy Local Program
The North Tahoe Business Association, Tahoe City Downtown Association, Incline Community Business Association, North Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce and Truckee Downtown Merchants Association have all adopted The 3/50 Project. With a tag line of ‘Save your local economy three stores at a time,’ the project’s goal is to promote shopping in locally owned businesses while thanking customers for the positive impact that decision has on local economy. TTCF Hires Director of Donor Engagement
Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation announced that Ann Pridgen has been hired as director of donor engagement. Pridgen will be responsible for working with donors to help them identify their charitable passions and to build philanthropy among full and part-time residents of North Tahoe-Truckee.

The Phoenix Executive Building Awarded LEED Silver
The Phoenix Executive Building in Truckee has been awarded a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) silver certification, the first of its kind in the area. The building, constructed by Geney Gassiot and designed by MWA Architects, is located across from the Truckee Tahoe Airport at 12277 Soaring Way.
It includes mechanical systems that optimize energy performance, water saving fixtures, insulation and reflective materials which allow for efficient heating and air conditioning systems, on-site storage and collection of recyclables, use of recycled and low-emitting building materials, daylight and natural views in 75 to 90 percent of spaces, bike storage and a shower/locker room. South Lake Website Designer Wins Entrepreneur Award
Becky Bell, owner and creator of the Tahoe Arts and Mountain Culture website TahoeCulture.com, won the Entrepreneur Award at the South Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce and Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority’s 2009 Blue Ribbon Awards ceremony on Nov. 12. The Blue Ribbon Awards recognize local businesses and individuals whose work contributes to the sustainability of the community.
Bell launched the website in July 2007 as a resource for travelers to Lake Tahoe. Bell invites businesses, event proponents, artists and individuals to promote themselves and help shape the character of Lake Tahoe through story submissions and paid advertisements. Info: 530-318-6454
Planned Parenthood’s Cancer Screenings Anniversary
Planned Parenthood MarMonte’s Tahoe City office is celebrating its one-year anniversary.
Last fiscal year, PPMM provided over 2,100 visits in the Tahoe-Truckee area, a 58 percent increase in visits over fiscal year 2008. Last November, PPMM hired a part-time nurse practitioner, Janet Brooks of Truckee. Due to increased demand, PPMM is now recruiting for two additional part-time positions: nurse practitioner and medical assistant.
Planned Parenthood is located in Tahoe City at 3190 Fabian Way. Walk-in clinic hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Regular hours are Monday 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. All services are confidential. Truckee-based defense lawyer Alison Bermant has a new website with information about her practice, which specializes in DUI and criminal charges in Placer, Nevada, Sierra and Plumas counties.

Artisans Co-Op Presents Unique Gift Shopping
Shopping in Truckee this holiday season just took a turn toward the fantastic. The Artisan’s Marketplace has opened in the Blue Victorian (formerly Blue Sky), in Brickelltown. The gallery represents a co-op of 14 talented local artists and is filled to the brim with amazing and gorgeous handmade treasures.
