Christine Blanchard Ayres

Christine Blanchard Ayres, wife of Robert Ayres and Truckee resident for many years, passed away after a long battle with cancer.
Chris was born in Pasadena, Calif., on June 26, 1949. She attended the University of California at Riverside where she met Bob.
They were married in 1969 and lived and worked all over the world. She was a teacher of Transcendental Meditation and spent a number of years with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. She helped run the national organization, oversaw the advanced teachings, and helped establish and run meditation academies across the country. Chris taught meditation to over 5,000 people. She was also a feng shui consultant for thousands of homes and offices in theTruckee/Tahoe/ Reno area. Chris taught classes and wrote many articles on the subject. She also co-published a book on feng shui, ‘Sell Your Home with Feng Shui.’ She loved nature and was an avid gardener, creating beautiful gardens wherever she lived. A celebratory event honoring Chris was held in May when her longtime pals, Kenny Loggins, Dougie Ingoldsby, and Stan Weisner performed for a sell-out crowd in Truckee. She is survived by her husband, Robert, her father, Duane Champlain, and brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Robyn Champlain.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, 341 Village Boulevard. in Incline Village. A reception will follow at a private residence in Truckee. Flowers, especially those that can be planted in her memory, are welcome.
