We had a full house the minute the doors opened, full with lively boisterous costumed folk – fanged creatures, caped avengers, fluffy blue birds, Andy Warhol, Vikings and she-devils. During the chambermixer, food was lovingly provided by FiftyFifty Brewing Company, mouthwatering chocolate was served by Xocai and fine wines were poured by The Pour House. A pile of prizes was raffled off to chamber members and then the mixer flowed right into party time.
Sol Jibe showed up with a stellar six-member lineup and got the grooves on, provoking the variety of masked Truckee folk to get down and shake it.
Amidst the organized chaos, there was an audience-decided costume contest, wherein the man in tightie whities, Mr. Tom Cruise, from Risky Business took top honors. Second place went to Fidel Castro and third to Fire and Ice. For everyone who dressed up, big props to you; you were all smashing. For those who didn’t, take heart, we may just make this an annual event…
A big thank you to FiftyFifty for hosting all the revelry. And we would also like to say THANK YOU to our many sponsors who made this party possible: Moody’s Bistro, The Cedar House Sports Hotel, Pastore Ryan, Harry Hood, Truckee Book and Bean, Truckee Tahoe Lumber Company, Cabona’s, Tuff Beanz, Tahoe Dave’s, TNT-Transportation Management Assoc., Wayne Vandergriff and Janna Caughron, Gerhard Skerbinek, Lengua Viva, Waste Buster, DMB Highlands, FiftyFifty Brewing Company, Xoçai Chocolate and The Pour House.
A special nod to Lou ‘Low-rider’ Raso of Truckee Book and Bean for all of his support. Many blessings to the Moonshine staff – especially Kira, Eve and Lucila – for going above and beyond the call of duty.
