Best Summit Clean Up Days
The Donner Summit Area Association like to thank everyone involved for working so hard to make this one of the best ‘Summit Clean Up Days’ ever. More than 60 volunteers showed up to clean the roads and drainages all the way from Cisco Grove to Donner Lake, including Pla Vada and Serene Lakes!
I would like to thank Sugar Bowl, Royal Gorge, Donner Summit Public Utilities District, Sierra Lakes Water District, and Serene Lakes Property Owners Association, for donating dumpsters, Sugar Bowl for use of their picnic area, and Maria and Scott at the ‘Summit Restaurant’ for preparing a great barbecue for the volunteers.
Also, a special thank you to Placer County Supervisor Jennifer Montgomery for helping coordinate this event the past 20 years.
Looking forward to doing it again next year.

McClintock: Carpetbagger from Southern California

I really appreciated the article by Beth Ingalls about Rep. McClintock. Her description is unwavering and totally apt.
He is clearly out of his league and wouldn’t recognize constructive solutions if he ran into them. It is unfortunate that the electorate in the 4th District was so uninformed and voted by rote. Brown should have run a more aggressive campaign, but I think overall our District is the one place where a true carpetbagger, unable to vote in his own election, could win.
It is definitely an argument for fairer redistricting.

My husband and I chuckled while reading the recent article on Tom McClintock. But I have a question. Did he REALLY say that bit about Chrysler Republican dealerships being shut down while Democrat-owned were staying alive or were you just having fun?

I was quite impressed with your insight into Representative McClintock. We deserve better. Why couldn’t ‘we’ the constituents of District Four, have voted for Charlie Brown instead? It puzzles me. How could this carpetbagger from Southern California have won an election up here in the North Country? That is a question Moonshine Ink might well look into.
Thank you for being a great reporter with a superb local paper…Moonshine Ink may soon be our only local paper if the Sierra Sun continues its focus on the North Shore.

Fun Things to Do in the Car
Honk and wave to strangers.
Write ‘X – BURIED TREASURE’ in random spots on all of someone’s roadmaps.
Insist on keeping your car windshield wipers running in all weather conditions ‘to keep them tuned up.’
Buy a large quantity of orange traffic cones and reroute whole streets.
Leave your turn signal on for 50 miles.
Two words: Chicken Suit
Roll down the windows and blast talk radio. Attempt to head bang.
Have conversations, looking periodically at the passenger seat, when driving alone.
Laugh a lot. A whole lot.
Stop at the green lights.
Go at the red ones.
Occasionally wave a stuffed animal/troll doll/Barbie out your window or sunroof. Feel free to make it dance.
Ask people for Grey Poupon.
Throw burning things in the windows of smokers who throw their butts out the
window.
Throw spam.
Get in the fast lane and gradually … slow … down … to a stop. Then get out and watch the cars. Throw Spam at them.
