Throughout the world, mountains have traditionally provided a retreat for introspective, spiritual people. Mountains are tranquil and extreme, they trigger feelings of awe and gratitude in the human spirit. In other environments, let’s face it, it can be much harder to connect to this power.
Now is the time to take advantage of our high vantage point, hunker down in your snowed-in house, and make time for retreat and reflection. The Sun enters Pisces on February 18, shifting the celestial energy. Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac, comes as we complete a year’s cycle of outer adventure and feel the need to collect and realign with the source of our being before a new cycle of activity begins in the spring. It is a time of completion and preparation for new beginnings.
It is the last month before the Spring Equinox, the embodiment of new beginnings and rebirth. From a seasonal standpoint, Pisces is the last sign of winter, even though here in Truckee/Tahoe the snow and cold weather will likely continue past the last day of this zodiac sign (hopefully).
Pisces’ archetype is The Mystic, that individual who is strongly motivated to connect with the spirit within and dwell consciously in that awareness. Pisces rules spiritual practices, which help us expand awareness, transcend the physical, and connect to Unity Consciousness, that state of being in which we experience the oneness of all life.
Along with the mountains, our region also has a special body of water. Pisces and its planetary ruler Neptune rule the watery oceans as well as the infinite oceans of cosmic space. The body of water that we know as Lake Tahoe is a powerful receptor and mirror for the celestial energies pouring down from the starry heavens.
The spiritual guidance that can be accessed – especially here in Tahoe/Truckee where the environment is charged with transcendent energies – can provide direction as the new cycle of spring unfolds next month. The emphasis on retreat and reflection applies to home and family matters for some signs, and to work situations for others. Be sure to take some time this month to pause amidst your busy activities and enjoy the silence; it will speak to you, and your life will be much richer as a result.
Aries (March 21-April 19): There is a dynamic energy this month that wants to express itself in action. Much of this energy can be effectively directed into your work. You are very resourceful now, and can find solutions for all kinds of problems. A number of situations on the home front can be dealt with very successfully, too. There is the likelihood of some intense arguments with co-workers or partners, so watch out for your aggressiveness.
Taurus (April 20-May 20): It is important for you to communicate your feelings now, especially with your partner. There are mental and emotional conflicts this month that need to be sorted out. A practical plan for implementation can help address long-range planning issues. You need an attitude adjustment about taking on more of your true responsibilities. Be creative in your thinking, and you will come up with a good plan. This is not a good time for travel.
Gemini (May 21-June 21): It is time to plumb the depths of your soul. Meditation and inner work can result in some very original creative ideas, which need to be communicated to others and put into action. Speak with authority and people will listen. It could result in a step up in your career. Shared money issues need to be addressed before they get out of hand. You feel conflicting emotions that must be sorted out by using reason. This is not a good time for travel.
Cancer (June 22-July 22): This month is the time to look at the big picture and make some much needed long-range plans. Once you have become clear about your future direction, you must set an example for others by your actions. Workshops, seminars, and reading can help you broaden your horizons about what is possible now. Communication issues may arise with your partner, and will need to be sorted out. Be loving and diplomatic and the result can be very positive.
Leo (July 23-August 22): The focus is on career and profession this month. There are opportunities for you to demonstrate your leadership abilities. You have a very powerful drive to improve your existing situation, and success is there for the taking. Be sure to aim high and go for your ideal. Home and family affairs also require your attention. Home improvements are supported now as long as you can keep on top of the situation at work.
Virgo (August 23-September 22): This is a very social month for you. Getting together with friends, involvement with groups, and humanitarian activities can bring a sense of fulfillment. The situation may require that you play a leadership role, but that is okay, it is time for you to be recognized for your achievements. Be creative and think outside the box. The principles of beauty and harmony want to be included in any projects you work on.
Libra (September 23-October 23): This month has a strong inner spiritual focus. You need to come into right alignment with the transcendent realms and open up to receive what they want to give you. Enlivenment of mind and heart, as well as a sense of balance and poise, result in a profound sense of freedom. Meditation, yoga, Tai Chi, and prayer will enhance your inner quest. Your personal revelation is to be shared with others.
Scorpio (October 24-November 21): There is a sense of new beginnings and rebirth this month that wants you to realize that there is more to life than what you are currently living. It is time to take a step forward in order to actualize your potential. Put your resourcefulness into action and demonstrate you abilities. Choose a practical situation in your everyday life that is overdue for positive change. Your ability to plan and see into the future helps you spot trends that you can take advantage of to increase your wealth and abundance. Some of these opportunities are in the area of investments and can involve cutting-edge technologies. This can also be a wonderful time for travel and having some fun.
Capricorn (December 22-January 19): The focus this month is to get better organized. Recent events that resulted in significant change require new strategies. The main outlet for this organizational consciousness is in your career and profession. But it can also effectively be applied to circumstances in your everyday life. Your sense of drive and power is strong now, and can result in recognition and promotion at work. Becoming overly involved at work and losing your balance, can lead to challenges and issues with home and family, so keep your balance!
Aquarius (January 20-February 18): It is time to do things with the family. This month do something you have never done before. Break boundaries and experience the sense of freedom. It is an excellent time for travel. Go where you have never gone before and experience a sense of adventure. The need for pleasure and enjoyment is strong. Go to a concert, go dancing or to a movie. All of those activities are supported at this time. Reconnect with the joy of life.
Pisces (February 19-March 20): This month the primary theme is connecting with your spirituality. Nature holds a special opportunity for you now to experience its sacredness. Take time to look at the starry heavens or cross-country ski through the silent mountain forests, or find extra time to contemplate our beautiful lake. Meditation in the solitude of your home can also open up doorways to spiritual experience. Music, dance, and theater are also appropriate activities at this time.
