This year’s Friends of Hospice Benefit promises to be an inspiring evening. Following a three-course gourmet meal catered by Bella Affair, mountaineer and motivational speaker, Eric Alexander, will share his experience of leading a team of climbers to the top of Mount Everest. One of the members in the party, and good friend, Erik Weihenmayer, was the first blind man ever to accomplish this arduous feat.
When Alexander is not speaking on his secrets for success, he shares his love of adventure by instructing disabled skiers and is the director of Adventure Beyond Limits, an organization dedicated to educating and encouraging youth with disabilities in the outdoors. His secrets for success: ‘Prepare for the ascent; Ascend – dare to dream as dreams are still worth striving for; Triumph – miracles do happen so never give up, never listen to your critics. Remember that champions adjust and that there are no limits to what we can achieve.’
Risk, faith, trust, courage, perseverance, integrity, leadership and teamwork are a few of the principals you’ll hear at this encouraging event. Funds raised at this event help to provide hospice services to terminally ill patients. Purchase $10 raffle tickets for your chance to win a trip to Hawaii or Mexico and more. No-host cocktail hour begins at 5:30 p.m., dinner is at 6:30 p.m., with the speaker to follow. Individual tickets cost $85 and a table for eight is available at $680.
