Filmed on location in seven countries and four continents, Warren Miller’s ‘Wintervention’ is positioned as a film featuring acute cases of classic snow-diction from across the globe.
A not-to-be-missed segment features locals Doug Stoup, Kip Garre, and John Morrison with Andrew McLean as they jump on the 101-meter ship, the Clipper Adventurer. Departing from the southern-most city in the world, Ushuaia, Argentina, the ship navigates the Drake Passage, home to the world’s roughest waters, and arrives at an endless expanse of rugged terrain, which discharges abruptly out of the iceberg-laden sea. For the skiers onboard, it truly is a journey to the last frontier, and as Stoup says, ‘This place is unreal.’
‘Wintervention’ also takes viewers to Austria’s Arlberg Region, the Columbia Mountains, Gudari, Georgia, New Zealand’s Mount Aspiring National Park, virtually every mountain Colorado has to offer, Southern Utah, Alaska, and Svarlbard, Norway. The film is a ripping ride, offering something for every type of skier and rider. Additional Tahoe locals featured include Sammy Luebke, Mike Wilson, Tim Dutton, and the late Arne Backstrom.
