Not that this has much to do with his music, but Iron & Wine’s Sam Beam has a great beard. It’s facial hair that any Tahoe man would be proud of. Isn’t that reason enough to go to the Iron & Wine show in Reno?

In the 10 years of his music career, Beam has established himself as a master storyteller and songwriter. Many of his songs have a whimsical flavor, a forlorn tone that’s full of imagery. Beam’s early albums were more intimate and quiet, but with the 2007 release of ‘Shepherd’s Dog,’ which was hailed by fans and critics alike, Iron & Wine took on more of a layered approach that has since added a lot of depth and brightness to his sound.
With his latest album, ‘Kiss Each Other Clean,’ released in January, Beam took the full-bodied sound of his previous work and then pushed the envelope further. ‘Kiss Each Other Clean’ took its cue from the ’60s-and ’70s-era pop that Beam grew up around, and is a record created for sunny days.
